Okay, that may be a bit of drama. The Romans generally did not coerce enlistment into their military but the information provided below reflects subclade E-PH345, showing Y-DNA test subjects who have male lineage ancestors in modern Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia. The implication is that their E-BY4793 ancestors (parent clade of E-PH345) did not end up among Roman recruits shipped off to foreign lands. This might suggest the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea as an area where other men of the E-BY4793 subclade were recruited.

Of course this is not definitive evidence that all E-BY4793 recruits came from within this area. We delve further into the considerations which support and temper this supposition on another page. Suffice it to say that the test results do provide additional evidence that E-BY4793 likely originated in the Balkans, and likely the north Balkans.

Note that the fact we see only five Family Tree DNA test-subjects from this subclade may be an indication of the relative infrequency of involvement by these nationalities in a US-based testing program as well as lower historic levels of their emigration to the US.

E-PH345 test subject show Albanian, Montenegrin, and Croatian roots, suggesting this
subclade may have originated along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea.
